10. History Favors the Cavs
As James learned two years ago against the Spurs, having to face the same team in the finals in consecutive years can be too much to overcome. What the Spurs were able to pull off in 2014 was not an isolated case. Aside from Jordan’s Chicago Bulls defeating the Utah Jazz in 1997 and 1998, you need to go back to Russell’s final years with the Celtics to find a team which prevailed against the same opponent two years in a row.
James knows enough NBA history to admire what Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor accomplished. But he would prefer the Cavs not joining the Los Angeles Lakers of when those three legends played together in the late ’60s in falling just short.
