5. John Wall
A broken hand robbed NBA fans of what could have been an Eastern Conference Finals between two of the great young point guards in the NBA when the Washington Wizards were knocked off in the playoffs by the Atlanta Hawks.
Before his injury, John Wall had been making a case to be included in the hierarchy of the top point guards in the NBA, averaging 17.6 points and 10.0 assists per game, mixing a nearly unparalleled passing ability with second-to-none speed in the open court. For his accomplishments Wall was selected as the starting point guard for the Eastern Conference All-Stars.
With prototypical physical attributes and a strong defensive ability, the only aspect of Wall’s game that is less than elite is his inconsistent shooting numbers. Wall was able to improve his shooting numbers in 2013-14 when he shot 35% from three on 308 attempts, but his numbers dropped in 2014-15 to 30% on 217 attempts. If he can bump this number up and provide some consistency, Wall will thrust himself into the conversation of best point guard in the league.
