The final two spots on the list are dedicated to players who will specifically lighten the load off of Irving. After a season in which he was in the top 10 in the league in minutes played as well as breaking his knee cap, Irving will need to see a decrease in his minutes per game. And while Matthew Dellavedova provided a defensive spark in the playoffs, Norris Cole has the athleticism and ball-handling ability to provide a more consistent presence at the backup point guard position. This would allow Dellevadova the opportunity to play more off the ball when in the game — something he seems to do with more comfort and confidence. In addition to fitting into this role, Cole’s relationship with LeBron James, not only as a former teammate in Miami but also in having the same agent in Rich Paul, cannot be ignored.
