The Mavs’ first title run didn’t rev too strongly at first, winning 10 of the last 16 in the final month to also close with a 57-25 record. That belied a strong postseason, where they lost just three times in the opening three rounds, then ran off three straight victories to defeat LeBron James’ first Miami Heat squad. Dallas was impressive with their 26-13 start, but improved with a 31-12 finish over their final 43 matchups.
