6. Turnovers
As a point guard, it’s your responsibility to take care of the ball and limit your turnovers because a majority of the time the point guard is the one with the ball in his hands (also known as usage rate). Russell Westbrook’s reckless style of play has led him to average 3.5 turnovers for his career, peaking this year at 4.3 turnovers per game; this sort of speaks to the maturity of his game as well. Older veteran point guards tend to have a lower turnover rate because of their high basketball IQ and ability to take care of the ball. Irving averages 2.9 turnovers per game for his career, and is at an astonishingly low 1.7 this year.
