Report: Los Angeles Lakers Would ‘Undoubtedly’ Have Interest in Kevin Love
- Updated: December 20, 2018

A reunion may be in store for Kevin Love and LeBron James, but it won’t be on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to a Wednesday night report by Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net, the Los Angeles Lakers would have interest in Love if he were made available by the Cavs.
“It is not known which teams specifically have called the Cavs. The Los Angeles Lakers have been an aggressive team in looking for a trade and would undoubtedly have interest,” Amico wrote. “The Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers have also long been Love suitors. And the Miami Heat are always looking for a player of Love’s caliber.”
While it would be hard to see the final All-Star on the current Cavs’ roster leave town, the silver lining would be seeing Love and James play alongside one another once again.
The Cavs brought Love to Cleveland via trade shortly after James signed with the team back in 2o14. Since then, the 6-foot-1o forward has averaged 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
Though James and the young Lakers core has had success so far this season, adding Love to the roster would certainly take them to another level.
What would be interesting to see is what the Lakers would be willing to part ways with in return of Love. If the Cavs could somehow find a way to get Brandon Ingram in return for Love, the trade would be seen as a serious success. Considering Love’s age and injury history, however, it’s unclear if the Lakers would agree to such a deal.
In the end, this is all just conjecture until Love is able to return to the court and prove that he is no longer hampered by the foot injury that forced him to undergo surgery in late November.
If he is able to return to All-Star form once back on the court, the market for Love is sure to grow in a big way.
