The riskiest option could end up paying off for the Cavs if Chalmers is able to bounce back from a season-ending Achilles tear. He’s been cleared to play again, though going through the rigors of an NBA regular and playoff season after coming off such a severe injury could be a challenge.

Chalmers also was a part of the Heat when James was there, and although he noted some conflict in their interactions during that period, he won’t be required to be a key factor in the lineup. At 30, he’s likely looking for one final big contract. He may have to settle for a one-year deal to show that he’s fully recovered, which means that Cleveland could be the perfect landing spot.
