This might sound crazy, but Young may be a viable option for the Cavs should J.R. Smith actually opt not to re-sign in Cleveland. The Los Angeles Lakers are desperately seeking any team willing to simply take Young off the team. This could be a trade scenario in which the Cavs would actually not have to give much up, perhaps a bench player or a future second-round draft pick.

Young comes with his fair share of baggage, but on a veteran team like the Cavaliers, his antics would only be tolerated so far. Should it ever get out of hand, you can be sure that James would be willing to sit down and have a few words with Young about his behavior.

It’s an old NBA adage that teams can deal with one player who brings baggage. Should Smith decide to take his talents elsewhere, Young could fill that void and become the spark plug Cleveland needs.
