The 32-year-old shooting guard has spent the last two seasons averaging 19.4 points per game in Minnesota. Martin has a base salary of $7 million for the 2015-16 season, so the Cavs could use a portion of the Haywood trade exception on him.

The Timberwolves are currently in the beginning of a multi-year rebuilding plan. With a core of Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota has a bright future ahead of them. However, they are not yet ready to vie for a playoff spot in the very deep west, so sending the 32-year-old Martin in a trade could allow them to further build on their youthful foundation.
