Several NBA players โ including Bam Adebayo, Max Strus and Torrey Craig โ questioned an Instagram post from Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell that depicted his version of the city of Cleveland.
The Instagram post in question showed Mitchell enjoying his time in a tropical area with palm trees.

Mitchell made a decision earlier in the summer that suggests he’s willing to commit to the Cavaliers and city of Cleveland for the long haul. In July, he agreed to terms on a three-year, $150.3 million contract extension with the team.
The 27-year-old will be under contract with the Cavaliers through the 2026-27 campaign. He has a player option on his deal for the 2027-28 season.
While Mitchell has holes in his game โ he isn’t exactly recognized as a great defensive player โ he was one of the premier offensive players in the NBA during the 2023-24 regular season when considering all that he did for the Cavaliers as a scorer and facilitator.
Starting with his playmaking, Mitchell was one of the Cavaliers’ primary playmakers last season, and he averaged a career-high 6.1 assists per game. His previous career-high came when he dished out 5.3 assists per contest in the 2021-22 regular season, which marked his final season with the Utah Jazz organization.
Mitchell also averaged the second-most assists per game on the team behind only star floor general Darius Garland, who led the way with 6.5.
The former University of Louisville star is one of the better passers at the shooting guard position in the NBA today, but it’s from a scoring standpoint where Mitchell truly made his hay on the offensive side of the ball.
Last season, Mitchell averaged a whopping 26.6 points per game across 55 games played. He shot the ball with commendable efficiency to boot, as he saw 46.2 percent of his shots from the field and 36.8 percent of his 3-point attempts find the bottom of the net in his second season with the Cavaliers.
