Kendrick Perkins says Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren remind him of Darius Garland and Evan Mobley
- Updated: July 12, 2022

One of the best young duos in the NBA is Darius Garland and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Garland is already a one-time All-Star and Mobley looks like he has what it takes to one day be one of the best and most versatile bigs in the league. While they are certainly impressive players, former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins recently took to social media to identify another young duo who he thinks could be the next Garland and Mobley.
The duo he mentioned was Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Giddey and Chet are giving me Garland and Mobley type vibes. Josh Giddey is going to be the Face of the OKC Thunder! Carry the hell on… pic.twitter.com/dtrJ03vQZ9

Whether or not Perkins’ analysis is solid is up for debate, but there is one clear message that Cavs fans can take away from his comparison. That message is that Garland and Mobley have both already made names for themselves despite their youth. They have been identified by experts and fans alike as two of the most promising young players in the league.
That should leave every Cavs fan with a big smile.
Last season, the Cavs were on the cusp of advancing to the playoffs. They ultimately ended up in the play-in tournament and could not get the job done.
Still, it cannot be ignore that the Cavs were dealing with injuries to multiple key players at that time. If the Cavs had been even a little more healthy overall at the end of the regular season, they likely would have advanced into the playoffs with ease.
That will surely be the goal for the 2022-23 NBA season. With Garland now seen as a fully established star and Mobley seen as one of the next great big men in the league, the sky will soon be the limit for the Cavs.
