The Denver Nuggets could make a play for Irving in an attempt to pair young star Nikola Jokic with another proven commodity in order to compete in the Western Conference. With Jokic, Irving, and newly acquired free agent Paul Milsap, the Nuggets could become an nightmare for opposing defenses. Making that nightmare a reality however would demand a lot of pieces in return.
While Chandler and a first-rounder have clear value, the real prize of this trade for the Cavs lie in the promise of a future with a talented young backcourt made up of Gary Harris and Jamal Murray. While there would certainly be growing pains for both new-look teams, the possibility of a promising future could be enticing enough to pull the trigger.
