A Paul Millsap-for-Kevin Love trade just makes sense on paper. Love would be a very good compliment to Dwight Howard on the Atlanta Hawks roster. His ability to go inside and outside on offense would allow Howard to receive the touches he so desperately wants in the post, while Howard would be able to cover up many of Love’s shortcomings on the defensive side of the ball.
For the Cavs, Millsap does not cause any spacing issues as he has the ability to step out and knock down the 3-pointer. Millsap has also never been a primary scorer on any team he has played on, making his transition to a third option very smooth if not a natural thing.
Millsap also brings an element of defense that Love simply cannot provide and has proven to be an extremely efficient passer out of the post. In his career, Millsap is a 33.4 percent 3-point shooter, although a number like that would most likely rise due to the fact that playing with Kyrie Irving and LeBron James tends to create wide open shots for the third option.
Again, this trade makes a ton of sense on paper, and the Cavs would be crazy not to at least answer the phone should the Hawks show up on the caller ID.
