Report: Cavs have received offers for De’Andre Hunter and Dean Wade

The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly have received trade offers for forwards De’Andre Hunter and Dean Wade.

“I’m told that they’ve already gotten offers for De’Andre, including one that they rebuffed,” Cavs insider Chris Fedor said. “Dean Wade, same thing. I’m told that they’ve gotten offers for Dean Wade. Even going back to the offseason, they got offers for Dean Wade that they rebuffed because they just didn’t believe that it was going to make them a better basketball team.”

The Cavs are off to a slow start in the 2025-26 season, as they’re just 19-16 through their first 35 games and sit in the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference. After winning 64 games last season and earning the top spot in the East, the Cavs have taken a major step back so far this season.

Despite that, Fedor’s reporting shows that Cleveland isn’t going to make a trade just for the sake of making a deal, as the Cavs could’ve agreed to something by now if they were feeling antsy.

Hunter, who was acquired prior to the trade deadline last season from the Atlanta Hawks, is averaging 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season. However, his shooting has taken a major step back from where it was in the 2024-25 campaign.

Last season, Hunter shot 48.5 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from 3 with the Cavs, and he was a 40.5 percent shooter from beyond the arc overall. This season, the former lottery pick is shooting just 42.5 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from 3-point range.

With sharpshooter Max Strus missing time to start this season with a foot injury, the Cavs simply have not gotten the shooting lift they were likely expecting from Hunter.

As for Wade, he’s playing a career-high 23.1 minutes per game this season and averaging 5.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Like Hunter, he has not shot the ball well this season.

Wade is shooting just 39.5 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from 3, far below his career averages of 42.4 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from 3. When his shot is falling, he’s a strong 3-and-D player.

It’s been reported that Wade is a player to monitor via trade, as he’s in the final season of his contract with Cleveland.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Cavs look to shake up their roster ahead of the trade deadline, especially if they don’t make a push back into the top six in the Eastern Conference standings over the next month.
