As the roster currently stands, the Cavaliers do not have any player that naturally falls into the center position. While Noel has been relegated to the power forward spot on a Philadelphia 76ers squad, he really would fit nicely as a rim-protecting center.
Noel has shown flashes of brilliance on the defensive end in his career, and several experts predict that Noel could be the next great rim-protecting center.
This is something that the Cavaliers could desperately use on its roster, not just for this season but for the next several years. While Noel is in a contract season, if the Cavs pulled the trigger on acquiring him, they could lock him up long-term on a deal that would be extremely favorable in just a couple of years.
The 76ers have expressed a willingness to part ways with Noel for the right price, especially with a logjam of big men on its roster.
