To some, it was a success for Coach Blatt simply to make it to his second season. After a rocky start that saw the Cavs sitting at 20-21 at the halfway point of the season, Blatt found himself on an extremely hot seat. Sports radio shows and journalists were questioning his credibility, and he was forced to defend even the smallest of decisions. The choice by general manager David Griffin paid off, as the Cavs finished the second half of the season as the hottest team in basketball, and nearly won the title despite a mountain of injuries.
In order for the Cavaliers to reach the mountaintop, trust in the entire coaching staff must be established sooner in the season. This means buying into offensive ideas, substitution patterns, and general philosophy.
