It is extremely hard to be critical of anything James does on the basketball court. He is a force unlike any we have seen, possibly in the history of the game. However, James did see a significant dip in his efficiency statistics last season.
Last year marked the first time since 2006-07 that James was unable to improve upon his previous season’s field goal percentage. According to basketball-reference.com, his 48% from the field marked his lowest total in eight seasons. Much of this can be attested to learning the styles of new teammates and playing in a different offense. The Cavaliers as a whole struggled early on in the season and so much of James’ lack of rhythm can be pinned on the growing pains of the team.
If James can return to the level of efficiency he has had in previous seasons, the Cavs will be as tough as any team in the league to stop.
