Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons Playoff Preview: Position-by-Position Breakdown

3. Small Forward: Marcus Morris vs. LeBron James

Two words: playoff LeBron. LeBron James has been on an absolute tear the last few weeks, and his shift has coincided with a few things. First, there was a disastrous game against Miami, then a meeting with Tyronn Lue, and then James himself stated that he was going into playoff mode early. It’s hard to argue with him, because since that Miami loss, the four-time MVP has averaged 28.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.5 assists while the Cavaliers have gone 8-2.

For the Pistons, Marcus Morris had arrived in Detroit this offseason with most people in the league under the impression that he was the lesser of the Morris brothers. His response was to play the best basketball of his life. He has averaged career-highs of 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 43.4-percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from 3-point territory. He is just another young, talented piece that the Detroit Pistons have.

And while that’s great for the Pistons, at the end of the day James always seems to find that extra level that only he can truly get to.

Advantage: Cleveland Cavaliers

Next: Power Forward
