Tristan Thompson made headlines and caused some controversy this summer when he signed a huge contract in the offseason. But thus far, Thompson has largely lived up to — and even surpassed — many of the expectations placed on him with a pay raise. Thompson has earned himself a starting role as of late and according to Cleveland.com, has made up half of one of the better pick-and-roll combos in the NBA.
Meanwhile, the Pistons are one of the best rebounding teams in the league largely because of Andre Drummond. Drummond has dominated nearly every person he’s faced this season, averaging a double-double of 16.8 points and 14.8 rebounds, the latter of which was a league high. Drummond made his first All-Star game appearance this season, and before the emergence of C.J. McCollum was a favorite to win Most Improved Player.
The Cavaliers will most likely win this first-round series with relative ease, although if the Pistons are able to compete at all, it will be because of Drummond.
Advantage: Detroit Pistons
Overall Advantage: Cavaliers 3-2
