Since being drafted, James’ aura has been one of biblical proportions. He was immediately deemed the Cavs’ savior and took them to the finals in four years. When he left for Miami, the Heat made four straight finals appearance and Cleveland collapsed. Once he returned, the Cavaliers were back in the Finals, and his absence for two weeks showed just how badly the team needed him.

The Bottom Line

No doubt fans in Los Angeles and San Antonio will point to more titles in favor of Bryant and Duncan, respectively. The problem is that each of their teams would have been able to field a competitive team had they never put on a uniform.

The same can’t be said for the Cavs, with the ultimate proof coming in their stark record without having James around. For that reason and the other items on this list, he should be known as the greatest player of his generation.
