LeBron’s Top Eight Moments Against the Boston Celtics

4.  2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals: James and Pierce Square Off in Legendary Duel

In what was perhaps one of the greatest single playoff series in the modern era of basketball, the Cleveland Cavaliers headed to Boston to take on the Celtics in a pivotal Game 7. LeBron and his counterpart, Paul Pierce, each put their respective team on their back, going back-and-forth attempting to singlehandedly will their team to victory.

Each team had everything to fight for. The Cavs were looking to avenge their Finals sweep the year prior, and the Celtics were searching for their first Finals appearance since the days of Larry Bird. In a game for the ages, the two All-Stars went back and forth, scoring bucket after bucket, as both men eclipsed the 40-point mark.

Unfortunately, LeBron’s massive 45 point, six assist, five rebound game was not enough, as the Celtics, behind Pierce’s 41 points, punched their tickets to the 2008 NBA Finals, where they went on to win their first championship in 22 years.
