Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics First Round Series Preview and Matchup Breakdown

10 Min Read

Of the four games the teams played during the regular season, only one of them falls under the category of what the lineups will look like beginning on Sunday. That was the Cavaliers’ 110-79 blowout win on March 3rd, where Cleveland led by 42 after three quarters.

The other three were a dramatic fourth quarter comeback by the Cavaliers on November 14 that saw them win 122-121, and last weekend’s back-to-back series that saw the Cavs rest key players, including four of the five starters in Sunday’s 117-78 thrashing in Boston.

This matchup could be a perennial matchup in the Eastern Conference finals in the years ahead, but for now, Cleveland has too much firepower to make this much more than five or six-game series. It’ll be a badge of honor for the Celtics to push this to a seventh game, but it’s not too likely to happen.

PREDICTION: Cavaliers in Five
