Cleveland Cavaliers veteran big man Tristan Thompson took to social media on Monday to share his excitement that Bitcoin continues to ascend.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the presidential election last week has impacted markets and helped bitcoin surge over $87,000.
“Donald Trump’s seismic election victory kept reverberating through markets, sending bitcoin prices surging above $87,000 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a close above 44000 for the first time,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.
“Investors have piled into stocks after the U.S. election, relieved that the contentious presidential contest is over and confident that Trump’s victory will lead to easier regulation and a flurry of dealmaking that will give markets a boost.”
It appears that Thompson has invested in Bitcoin, as that’s likely why he’s so excited about the recent surge.
The veteran forward has also seen his basketball career and his team take off over the last few weeks, as the Cavs are off to an 11-0 start in the 2024-25 season.
Cleveland is the only team in the NBA that is undefeated, and it will look to add to its perfect record on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs survived a scare against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, erasing a deficit to pull out a 105-100 win at home.
Thompson has only appeared in five games for the Cavs this season, as the veteran has taken a much smaller role at this stage in his career. A champion with Cleveland in the 2015-16 season, Thompson is averaging 2.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.2 assists in just 5.2 minutes per game while shooting 71.4 percent from the field this season.
A veteran leader, Thompson appeared in 49 games for the Cavs last season, averaging 11.2 minutes per contest.
Hopefully for the Cavs, Thompson won’t be called upon to play major minutes this season, as that likely would mean that big men Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are healthy.
Thompson and the Cavs are set to take on the Bulls at 8 p.m. EST on Monday, Nov. 11.
