4. Tony Allen
The three-time NBA All-Defensive Team member may demand a higher price than seems possible for the Cavs given their current cap space, or lack thereof. However, if the Cavaliers choose to use their taxpayer mid-level exception (MLE), which gives them approximately $5.2 million to sign a player, Allen could be enticed to sign with Cleveland.
Even though Allen will be 36 this season, he still brings a lot to the table and was named NBA All-Defensive Second Team for the 2016-17 season. Although he’s just 6-foot-4, Allen has the defensive tenacity to match up one-on-one against Stephen Curry, Thompson, or even Durant. He would also bring the savvy of a 13-year vet, who is looking to win one more ring before calling it quits.
