With only 21 games left on the regular season schedule, Timofey Mozgov doesn’t have much time to re-establish himself as a center worthy of big money at the free agent table. Now that he’s been shifted back into the starting lineup, the chance for him to him to literally cash in on this opportunity is waiting.
One statistic that’s within Mozgov’s reach every game is a double-double. Last season after joining the Cavaliers, he collected nine of them, but he currently has just one this year. However, in the past nine games, he’s had seven or more rebounds five times and has scored in double figures five times. Reaching this threshold more often will show that he can have an impact, which offers a better negotiating stance.
