The 29-year-old Thompson was recently released by the Golden State Warriors, ironically so that they could sign former Cavalier Anderson Varejao. After averaging more than 20 minutes per game during his previous seasons, Thompson’s playing time was severely slashed this season. His career average of 6.7 rebounds per game might make him a viable option to bolster the depth in the frontcourt, and it certainly makes him a better consideration than the open roster spot currently available.
