Ex-Cavs forward speaks out after being arrested: ‘F—K VEGAS’

Former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Marcus Morris is only days removed from being arrested in the state of Florida on a fraud charge. He is alleged to have stolen over $250,000 from a pair of Las Vegas casinos as he supposedly obtained the money by using bad checks.

Morris took to social media recently following his arrest and told his side of the story. He included some strong language in the post as well and appears to be unhappy with how things have unfolded.

Over the weekend, Morris’ agent Yony Noy also issued a strong response to the situation.

Morris has played 13 seasons in the NBA with a whopping eight different teams, and his last action came with the Cavaliers in the 2023-24 campaign. He appeared in 12 regular-season games with Cleveland and then suited up in nine more games in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

He finished his stint as a Cavalier with a bang, as in Game 5 of the team’s second-round series against the Boston Celtics, he went off for 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range. Morris helped keep Cleveland within striking distance for much of the game sans guard Donovan Mitchell on the floor.

Morris’ future in the NBA was already in jeopardy prior to his arrest, as he did not play a single game in the 2024-25 season, and with him set to turn 36 years old in September, he’s not getting any younger. It’s unclear if he will be able to make a comeback in the coming 2025-26 season.

The 35-year-old has spent much of his pro career as a very effective complementary scorer, averaging 12.0 points per game across 832 total regular-season games played. Morris enjoyed his best scoring season as a pro in the 2019-20 campaign when he averaged 16.7 points per contest across 62 regular-season games played with the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.

Hopefully, folks will have a clearer idea of whether Morris is guilty of any wrongdoing soon.
