Andre Drummond Praises Current Cavs Roster, Calls J.B. Bickerstaff ‘Hell of a Coach’

With the 2019-20 NBA season currently at a standstill, fans are hungry for news about their favorite basketball stars.

Luckily, Cleveland Cavaliers big man Andre Drummond offered a heavy dose of talking points when he recently spoke with Adam Wells of Bleacher Report.

One of the most positive takeaways from the conversation was learning about how happy Drummond seems to be in Cleveland. He offered heavy praise for his new team and coaching staff.

“Our team is really good. We are starting to get healthy,” Drummond said when asked about his new team. “Outstanding coaching staff. (John) Beilein was a great coach, JB (Bickerstaff) is a hell of a coach, his basketball mind is incredible.”

Drummond was of course dealt to Cleveland in a surprise trade prior to February’s trade deadline. He played in just eight games before the season was put on pause.

Beyond his praise of the Cavs, Drummond also touched on his potential future in Cleveland. However, unsurprisingly, he kept mum on the issue.

“Right now my focus is staying healthy, that’s a long ways away,” he said. “I love being in Cleveland, and I’ll come up with a decision when time is right.”

Drummond has one more year left on his current deal, though that year is a player option. Considering the fact that he will make over $28 million if he opts into that final year, it’s quite likely that he does just that.

In his tenure with the Cavs, Drummond has averaged 17.5 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. If he decides to stick around past this season, chances are good he’ll be a major focal point for the Cavs going forward.
