LeBron James and Stephen Curry Unite in Stance Against Donald Trump

LeBron James and Stephen Curry might be mortal enemies as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors face off against one another in their fourth straight NBA Finals, but there is one thing that brings them together: their disdain for President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, both players took to the podium ahead of Wednesday night’s Game 3 and were asked about the recent news about Trump rescinding his invite to the NFL Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House.

While James and Curry have been on opposite sides of the ball for large portions of their careers, they seemed quite unified on whether or not the 2018 NBA Finals winner would be visiting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue anytime soon.

“It’s typical of him,” James said of Trump’s decision to disinvite the Eagles due to their stance on protesting the national anthem. “I mean I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyway, so it wont be Golden State or Cleveland going.”

The strong words from the three-time NBA champ regarding the controversial president are just the latest in a long line of criticisms he has made of Trump since he has taken office.

As for Curry and the Warriors, they did not visit the White House after winning the 2017 NBA Finals last year and instead elected to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The two-time MVP assured members of the press that there would be no make-up visit should they win the championship again this season.

“I hope to be in that situation and win two more games where we win a championship, and obviously know what comes with that,” he said. “But I think I agree with Bron. Pretty sure the way we handled things last year, kinda stay consistent with that.”

Curry went on to explain that he believes every team in the NBA deserves the opportunity to make the decision to visit Trump or not should it win a championship while he remains in office. Still, his and James’ message is abundantly clear.

Knowing Trump, people can expect a response to James and Curry via Twitter in a matter of days. It would be no surprise if he rescinded the invite to either team before the series even came to an end.
