LeBron James Surpassed Kobe Bryant Last Night in Two Incredible Milestones

After passing Michael Jordan with 867 consecutive regular season games of 10 points or more last week, LeBron James surpassed Kobe Bryant in two scoring milestones Tuesday night.

By scoring 27 against the Toronto Raptors, James recorded 2,138 points for the season to supplant Bryant’s scoring record for a player in his 15th season or later. The Los Angeles Lakers legend previously held the distinction when he scored 2,133 points in his 17th season in the league.

The Cleveland Cavaliers forward is likely to add to his total scoring output with a few more games remaining on their schedule.

James also took sole possession of third place in career 20-point games with 942, moving ahead of Bryant (941) by a game. He only trails Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,122) and Karl Malone (1,134) on the all-time career list.

Bleacher Report’s Tyler Conway observed that “James has played 207 fewer games in his career than Bryant, who retired following the 2015-16 season.”

Bryant played for 20 seasons in a Lakers uniform while James is in his 15th season having played for the Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
