That grind is something that’s been attributed to some embarrassing losses on the part of the Cavaliers. However, another factor in some of those defeats entering Tuesday’s game against Milwaukee is the tendency to play down to the level of their opponents. Losses to weak teams like Brooklyn, depleted ones like Memphis or late-game collapses to Boston and Houston specifically stand out.
No matter what the record, any playoff team is a dangerous one, since one home loss could conceivably change the course of a series. The Cavaliers know that the stakes rise with every series, so their focus doesn’t figure to wander during a potential seven-game stretch against any opponent.
