4. PG: Elfrid Payton, Orlando Magic

No other spot on the floor is as loaded as the point guard position. Not only are there floor generals who can distribute the ball and rack up assist numbers, but also players who can score like shooting guards. It is a necessity to have a point guard that can produce near elite numbers for your fantasy squad. In fact, with the incredible amount of depth, it would be smart to look late in the draft to grab a guy who can make the jump from relative unknown to fantasy gem.

That guy just might be Elfrid Payton. The tenth overall selection in the 2014 draft, Payton isn’t exactly an unknown. He put up modest numbers as a rookie, averaging 8.9 points-per-game, as well as 6.5 assists. The 6’4″ second-year guard is due for a big jump in production. Orlando is loaded with young talent, including shooting guard Victor Oladipo and small forward Tobias Harris. Both are phenomenal athletes who will be beneficiaries of Payton having a better grip of the offense and the NBA game in general. While their ability to finish both in transition and in the half-court offense will lead to a jump in assist numbers, their ability to spread out the defense should lead to Payton having plenty of opportunities to finish at the hoop himself.

Next: Nerlens Noel
