The race for the 2014-2015 NBA Most Valuable Player is coming down to the home stretch of the season, and deservedly so, LeBron James is in the thick of it. Here are five reasons why LeBron deserves to win the MVP this season:
Even before All-Star power forward Chris Bosh was unfortunately lost for the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lung, the Miami Heat were a massive disappointment. After their 113-93 blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 11th, the Heat slumped into the All-Star break with a 22-30 record in a generally weak Eastern Conference.
It was quite obvious that the Heat weren’t going to do nearly as well as they did the previous four seasons with James under head coach Erik Spoelstra, but no one knew it would be this bad. Even with the likes of Bosh, All-Star shooting guard Dwyane Wade and small forward Luol Deng, the Heat are currently ranked a dismal 28th in NBA team scoring (94.0 points per game), while they were consistently in the top 10 for that category during LeBron’s four-year tenure.
