Cleveland Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley ranked just 10th among Eastern Conference frontcourt players in the first returns for fan voting in the upcoming 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
It shouldn’t come as a shock that Mobley might’ve had a chip on his shoulder and played excellently on both ends of the floor in Cleveland’s first game following the release of the fan returns. Versus the Dallas Mavericks, he totaled 34 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocked shots.
Following Mobley’s monster game against the defending Western Conference champions, Cavs star Donovan Mitchell took to X and sent a message.
Mitchell, Mobley and the rest of the Cavs are enjoying a truly special season, with the team already at 30 wins with just 34 games in the books. Cleveland owns the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and the best record in the NBA.
Mobley looks like an evolved player compared to his first three seasons in the NBA. He’s scoring the ball with a new level of self-confidence, as he’s averaging 18.9 points per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from deep.
A big factor behind Mobley’s offensive growth this campaign has been his 3-point shot. He’s averaging 2.7 attempts per game from 3 in his fourth season in the NBA after he never hoisted more than 1.3 on a nightly basis as a rookie, sophomore or third-year player.
Regardless of whether or not Mobley ends up earning the first All-Star nod of his pro career in the near future, he has cemented himself as a special two-way player in the NBA and seemingly has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. For as great as he already is, he maybe has yet to scratch the surface of his full potential.
Mobley has yet to turn even 24 years old, as his birthday isn’t until the middle of June. Perhaps the Cavaliers will still be playing in the month of June if Mobley can carry over his play this season into the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
