Donovan Mitchell offers ultimate praise to A’ja Wilson as she becomes 3-time WNBA MVP

Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell praised Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson on Sunday after she won the WNBA MVP award for the 2024 season.

Wilson dominated for the Aces in the 2024 regular season, as she averaged 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 51.8 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from beyond the arc. Not only that, but Wilson added 1.8 steals and 2.6 blocks per game as well.

A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Wilson truly impacts the game on both ends of the floor for the Aces.

Mitchell clearly appreciates what Wilson brings to the table, and the Aces star is quickly building an elite resume. A back-to-back champion with the Aces (who are going for a third straight title this season), Wilson won the league’s Finals MVP award last season.

On top of that, she’s been named to six All-Star teams, four All-WNBA teams and won the Rookie of the Year award in her first professional season.

By winning the MVP award this season, Wilson has now won three of the league’s last five MVP awards, showing how dominant she’s been over a long stretch.

However, her season isn’t done. Las Vegas will host the Seattle Storm on Sunday in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

It’s great to see Mitchell giving Wilson love on social media, and Cavs fans are hoping that the star guard can emulate some of Wilson’s accolades during his time in Cleveland.

A five-time All-Star and one-time All-NBA selection, Mitchell would love to win an MVP award – or an NBA title – with Cleveland to show that he can be one of the top players in the entire NBA.

Last season, Mitchell appeared in 55 games for the Cavs and averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.

He’ll look to build on that strong showing when the Cavs kick off their 2024-25 regular season in late October.
