Josh Hart’s immediate reaction to social media post about Donovan Mitchell loving New York

New York Knicks forward Josh Hart reacted on social media to a photo of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell repping the New York Mets.

Hart showed appreciation for the colors that Mitchell was repping, as the Mets’ blue and orange color scheme happens to be similar to the Knicks.’

Mitchell, who was born in New York, may love the area that he grew up in, but he showed his commitment to the Cavs this offseason.

The five-time All-Star signed an extension with the Cavs in the offseason that could keep him with the franchise through the 2027-28 campaign. Mitchell has a player option in his extension for the 2027-28 season that he could decide to opt into down the line to remain in Cleveland.

After getting traded to the Cavs ahead of the 2022-23 season, Mitchell has led the team to back-to-back playoff appearances.

In his first season in Cleveland, Mitchell lost to the Knicks and Hart in the first round of the playoffs in just five games.

However, he rebounded nicely last season, leading the Cavs past the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs.

Mitchell had some huge performances in that series, scoring 50 points in a loss in Game 6 and 39 points in the Cavs’ series-clinching win in Game 7.

While Cleveland was eventually knocked out of the postseason by the Boston Celtics, the Cavs still showed some major growth from Mitchell’s first season with the franchise. Now, Cleveland is hoping to make a deeper run in the playoffs in the 2024-25 season after returning several core players from last season’s team.

Both the Knicks and Cavs should be in contention to dethrone Boston in the Eastern Conference in the 2024-25 season, as the Knicks finished last season with the No. 2 seed in the East.

During the 2023-24 regular season, Mitchell appeared in 55 games for the Cavs and averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.

He’ll look to build on his success and legacy in Cleveland, even if Hart gives him a hard time about his Mets fandom.
