Report: T.J. Warren and Kyle Anderson linked to Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers seem determined to be players in this offseason’s free-agency period as they look to add to their team and solidify their place as one of the best young squads in the NBA.

In the 2021-22 season, offseason acquisitions proved to have a huge impact on the team’s progression, and the Cavs surely looking to repeat that kind of success this summer. Two names that are being linked to the Cavs are T.J. Warren and Kyle Anderson, according to a recent report.

The report also indicated that the Cavs still have a realistic shot of bringing back guard Ricky Rubio. He was instrumental in getting the team’s 2021-22 season on the right path before he sadly went down with an injury.

“Signing Rubio could be a viable path, and because of Rubio’s age and current injury, may not cost as much as someone like [Tyus] Jones would,” Evan Dammarell of Right Down Euclid reported. “If that’s the case, it would allow Cleveland to tackle their other needs using the remainder of the financial tools they have available. While the free agent market at the wing is fairly barren, multiple sources tell Right Down Euclid that soon-to-be free agents like T.J. Warren and Kyle Anderson are names that have been linked to the Cavaliers as things set to open up on Thursday evening.”

Warren and Anderson would both be nice fits in Cleveland’s lineup. Last season, Anderson played in 69 games and averaged 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 21.5 minutes per game.

Warren unfortunately missed the entire 2021-22 season with a foot injury. He only played in four games in the previous season. However, in the 2019-20 campaign, he averaged 19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest. Signing him would likely be considered a high-risk, high-reward scenario due to his injury history and high upside.

Over the past few seasons, the Cavs front office has earned the confidence of the team’s fans. Almost every draft pick has hit since the post-LeBron James rebuild began, and a number of other acquisitions have turned out to be massive successes.

Surely, the front office will look to continue that trend this summer.
