Report: Cavs Still Asking for Combination of Picks and Players for Kevin Love

Although the NBA is on pause due to the coronavirus, Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love still can’t escape the trade chatter.

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavs remain adamant that they want a combination of picks and players for the big man.

“If the Cavs get an offer they deem worthy then they will consider it,” Fedor wrote of the possibility that the Cavs trade Love. “But they still see him as a valuable piece, one that threads the needle between their present and future. They aren’t going to give him away for nothing. They aren’t going to accept a salary dump either. Sources maintain it will take a combination of picks and players for the Cavs to send him elsewhere. Get ready for more Love trade rumors this summer, especially given the dearth of impact free agents available.”

Love, 31, has been in trade rumors for the majority of his time in Cleveland.

On one hand, he has become a franchise favorite in his six seasons with the Cavs.

While superstars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James essentially made their way out of Cleveland, Love has remained loyal to the organization and never publicly demanded a trade.

In fact, despite the constant speculation, the 2016 champion has been active in the community and served members of the team in a myriad of ways.

Yet, while Love is committed to Cleveland, the state of his personal career and that of the franchise are in opposite places.

The 12-year veteran can easily contribute on a competing team. He is putting up 17.6 points, 9.8 boards and 3.2 assists per game this season.

Love is in the first year of a four-year, $120 million contract extension that he signed in 2018.
