Cleveland Cavaliers rookie point guard Collin Sexton isn’t perfect, but he sure is tough. During practice, Cavs head coach Larry Drew praised Sexton for playing in all of the team’s 60 games this season.

It shows the kind of toughness and determination that the Cavs need as they continue to build towards the future.

While Sexton’s rookie season got off to a rocky start, he has since continued to come into his own in a big way.

He averaged just 12.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in the first month of the season. So far in the month of February, Sexton is averaging 18.4 points, 3.4 rebounds. and 3.2 assists per game. From those numbers alone it is clear how much he has grown.

Sexton has not only shown improved ability throughout the season, but improved maturity as well. That certainly comes with experiences, and it seems clear that playing in all 60 games has played a role in his increased maturity throughout the season.

Along with Sexton’s personal improvement, the Cavs as a whole have shown improvement as well. They’ve won three of their last five games, and were in a battle until the end with the Portland Trail Blazers, a team that currently sits at fourth in the Western Conference.

Going forward, Cavs fans will look for Sexton to not only manage to stay on the court, but to become a dominant force while on it. While he’s not there yet, it seems likely that Sexton will be at the center of the Cavs’ success for many seasons going forward.
