Report: Cavs ‘Serious’ About Trading for Kemba Walker

The Cleveland Cavaliers are gearing up to use the eighth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but they might also be preparing to make a real push to add an already established All-Star to their roster.

Rumors and reports have been swirling regarding the Cavs’ interest in trading for Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker, and according to one local Charlotte reporter, the Cavs are very serious about trying to make it happen.

It is currently unclear what the Cavs would have to send to Charlotte in order to bring Walker to Cleveland. Recent reports that the Cavs intend to use their eighth overall draft pick or even move up in the draft seem to indicate that that pick is off the table. Managing to bring Walker to Cleveland without parting ways with that highly valuable asset would certainly require some masterful deal-making by Cavs general manager Koby Altman and owner Dan Gilbert.

Walker’s addition wouldn’t only help improve the Cavs’ current roster, but their front office could also be compelled to trade for him in an attempt to make Cleveland a more attractive option for LeBron James. There’s no guarantee that it would be enough to keep James, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt.
