Cavs Rumors: Kemba Walker ‘Could Be in Play’ For Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly looking to make moves to improve their roster this offseason. The first big-time player to reportedly be targeted by the Cavs was disgruntled San Antonio Spurs All-Star Kawhi Leonard, and it now appears as though they have zeroed in on yet another All-Star target.

On Monday, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reported that the Cavs might be looking to bring All-Star point guard Kemba Walker to Northeast Ohio:

“Cleveland has in fact inquired about Kawhi Leonard’s availability from the Spurs, among others, and league sources suggested Charlotte’s Kemba Walker could be in play for the Cavs.”

This isn’t the first time Walker has been brought up as a possible option for the Cavs. The two were heavily linked prior to the trade deadline last season, and it is clear that Cleveland is a big fan of the veteran guard.

Considering several factors, Walker may be attractive to a team like the Cavs now more than ever. Walker averaged 22.1 points and 5.6 assists per game last season, and trading for that kind of player could potentially help convince LeBron James to re-sign with Cleveland. Additionally, Walker only has one year left on his current contract. If he were to be brought to Cleveland, the Cavs could let go of him next summer in the event that the front office feels the need to make cap space.

Last summer was a whirlwind of activity for the Cavs from start to finish. However, with James’ pending free agency and clear indications that the Cavs are looking to make serious moves this offseason, this summer could be even crazier.
