Report: Latest Clue Suggests LeBron’s Considering Joining Houston Rockets

With the number of days dwindling until Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James officially becomes a free agent, the rumors about where he’ll be playing next season continue. On Friday, the latest rumor stated that James is performing some due diligence, which suggests that he might sign with the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets are one of the teams that’ve been prominently mentioned as a potential destination should James decide to leave the Cavaliers again. Chief among the reasons are his close friendship with Rockets guard Chris Paul and the Rockets’ success this past season. Houston had the NBA’s top regular-season record and reached the Western Conference Finals before losing in seven games to the Golden State Warriors.

One issue with James joining the Rockets would be fitting his contract into the team’s salary cap. To accomplish that, the belief is that the Rockets would be forced to essentially gut their roster of any major player other than Paul or James Harden.

In truth, James is likely doing the same thing when it comes to cities like Los Angeles and Philadelphia, the other two cities that he’s been strongly linked to over the past year.

Earlier in the week, one rumor had James reportedly dismissing the idea of signing with the Rockets due to his supposed dislike for the city of Houston. While that’s likely open to question, the rumors about anything connected to James figure to flourish until he decides to either re-sign with the Cavaliers or head to another team sometime next month.
