LeBron James Speaks on Cleveland’s Chances Heading Into the Playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers have just five more games remaining until the playoffs begin. The Cavs’ 2017-18 campaign has certainly had its high and low points, and while LeBron James has a lot of reasons to be confident heading into the postseason, he knows the playoffs might have its ups and downs as well.

Following Sunday’s comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks, James talked about what he expects from the Cavs in the upcoming playoffs:

“I think when it comes down to the postseason, we can be pretty good,” James said. “I mean, I think so. But we don’t know. Listen, we lost our starting point guard [George Hill] last game, so we’re trying to get everybody acclimated. Our head coach is still out, and it’s going to take him a little time to get back as well, so I don’t know what we’re capable of doing.

“We haven’t played a playoff game together. We got four guys from our championship team: myself, JR [Smith], Tristan [Thompson] and Kev [Love]. We got some playoff experience, but you don’t know. It’s a new season, and we’ll see what happens.”

Cleveland has been plagued by injuries as of late, with several players missing substantial time since it completely revamped its roster prior to the trade deadline. While the Cavs have managed to win eight of their last 10 games, they will be entering the postseason with much less experience playing alongside one another than many of the other teams they will be facing off against.

Despite that fact, the Cavs are the only team that have a player as dominant as James. The four-time MVP averaged 30.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game in the month of March. Considering that fact, even though the Cavs enter the playoffs with a number of questions regarding their roster left unanswered, they have to be considered the true favorites in the Eastern Conference.
