Cavs News: Derrick Rose to Miss Next Two Games With Sprained Ankle

The sprained ankle of Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Derrick Rose is still giving him enough trouble that he’s been ruled out of the team’s next two games on Tuesday and Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets, respectively.

Rose injured the ankle on a third-quarter drive to the basket in the team’s Friday night road victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, whose big man Greg Monroe appeared to virtually clothesline the point guard. The subsequent fall to the ground caused Rose to land awkwardly on the ankle and come up limping, at which point he was removed from the game. At the time of the foul, officials ruled that it wasn’t flagrant, a ruling that was later changed.

Over the past five years, Rose’s knee has been the main area of focus, with the former league MVP suffering a torn ACL in 2012 that’s caused periodic problems ever since. Rose’s checkered medical history was the chief reason the Cavaliers were able to sign him to a one-year veteran’s minimum contract of $2.1 million during the offseason.

Currently, there’s no set date for his return to the lineup, with the Cavaliers’ next game after Wednesday night’s clash in Brooklyn set for Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans, the first of back-to-back contests.
