2007 Indians

Just like 10 years earlier, the Indians eliminated the hated New York Yankees in the divisional series and built a 3-1 lead in the ALCS. That was where the similarities ended. The Boston Red Sox outscored the Indians 30-5 over the final three games to earn a trip to the World Series, where they swept the Colorado Rockies. The Red Sox, managed by current Tribe skipper Terry Francona, led only 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 7. In the top half of that inning, the speedy Kenny Lofton could have scored the tying run from second on a single by Franklin Gutierrez but was held up by third base coach Joel Skinner. Casey Blake grounded into an inning-ending double play, and the Indians never recovered while the Red Sox teed off on reliever Rafael Betancourt.
