James is in fourth place right now with 1,246 assists. That puts him just 17 behind Jason Kidd, which means by the time that Cleveland’s season ends, he’ll likely be all alone in the third spot. He doesn’t figure to go any higher considering John Stockton and Magic Johnson are far ahead of his total. In the case of Johnson, that total is virtually double, which could make this an unbreakable record.
