James’s Olympic career started on a down note in 2004 in Athens, Greece where he was used primarily as a reserve on a disappointing U.S. team that only managed to win a bronze medal. However, as a key member of both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London team, he brought back gold medals, and will undoubtedly be in position to capture a third this summer in Rio de Janeiro.
Jordan began his Olympic tenure as a gold-medal winning member of the 1984 Los Angeles games, which was arguably the greatest amateur basketball team ever. Four years later, he capped his Olympic days with another gold medal in Atlanta.
