In a season where 15 players averaged at least 20 points, led by Bob McAdoo of the Buffalo Braves, the Cavs were more like the forerunners of the San Antonio Spurs who won the 2014 NBA title with no one averaging more than 16.7 points. Center Jim Chones led them in scoring and was one of six Cavs to average double figures.
Forward Jim Brewer and guard Jim Cleamons were All-Defensive Second Team selections. It was on that end of the floor where the Cavs made their mark, ranking second only to the Chicago Bulls in fewest points allowed.
