5 Bold Predictions for the Cleveland Cavaliers This Season

2. The Cavs Won’t Miss a Beat with Mo Williams Running the Offense

As mentioned prior, Irving will be out indefinitely to start the season.

This means that Mo Williams will take over the starting point guard spot until the 23-year-old guard is able to return.

While Williams is 32 years of age, he still possesses plenty of scoring pop—he averaged 17.2 points per game in 27 appearances with the Charlotte Hornets during the second half of the 2014-15 season.

For perspective’s sake, that won’t be Williams’ role in Cleveland. However, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be nights where he won’t go on scoring binges when James and Love are struggling. In fact, he scored a career-high 52 points this past January while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Not to mention that Williams was a teammate of James and Anderson Varejao when the team had its best regular seasons in franchise history from 2008 through 2010.

The offense may not be as dynamic with Williams plugged in the lineup for Irving, but there won’t be much of a drop off in terms of victories.
