Frye, who will earn $8.2 million next season, would be an ideal fit for the front-court depth in Cleveland. The 32-year-old has made a career as a “stretch-four,” showing an ability to spread the floor and hit threes when given the opportunity. A career 39% three-point shooter, Frye has the rare combination of range and height all teams seek.
With Anderson Varejao coming off an Achilles injury, Frye would be a nice insurance policy or replacement if Varejao suffers a setback. Frye also can do many of the same things starter Kevin Love does in regards to spreading the floor, and could back up the power forward position as well as center.
